The Greater German Reich represents one of the major human powers in space. It's armed forces, while in fewer numbers than the other major powers, advocates a focus on discipline and quality on the field of combat.

History
Utterly devastated after the war with the Scinfaxi, the German Reich suffered a long grueling campaign of restoration after the end of the conflict. In a mere twenty years the German Reich was once again a world power, with its industrial levels back to pre-war levels.
In the uneasy peace that followed the Germans converted their V2’s to primitive rockets and became the first Nation of Earth to send an object into space. In 1967, amid the space race with the Soviets and Allies the German spacecraft “Bismarck IV” landed on the moon, another immense technological achievement.
By 1999 the German lead into advancements in space had waned, nevertheless they pursued and developed a space station orbiting the moon and had numerous spacecraft operating in and out of their spaceport in Frankfurt.
In 2085, when the American Space Forces achieved faster than light travel, the German Reich began a massive program to achieve parity, and succeeded in 2089. For the next 80 years, the GGR has sent dozens of colony ships to nearby star systems and in 2150 named Germania (Weisslicht System) their new capital.

The National Socialist German Workers' Party is the ruling political party of the German government, and is infact, the government itself. The various ministries controlling the vast Reich are controlled by the leadership of the party, each of whom has a firm power base and a great amount of influence, but are ultimately fanatically loyal and subserviant to the Fuhrer.

Foreign Relations
Despite the truce that had prevailed throughout the Scinfaxi War, the Greater German Reich immediately resumed its icy relations with the other human powers when the war ended.
When reconstruction began, and its shattered infrastructure was restored the Greater German Reich adopted a period of isolation. For over 20 years there was little contact until the mid 1960s when the German Spacecraft Bismarck IV landed on the moon.
The Reich attempted to maintain relations with the Democratic Federation, Earth was finally abandoned, this became harder to maintain. A break away state New Weimar Republic, after resisting efforts to be incorporated into the GGR, has adopted hostile relations to the Reich. Only Soviet and Democratic Federation are keeping war (which would almost inevitably be a GGR victory) between the two at bay.
Relations with the Empire of Japan remain strong, with talk of an official reaffirmation of the Triparite Pact between the two nations circulating between both Empires' foreign ministries. The Kriegsmarine and the Imperial Japanese Navy conduct an annual naval exercise, whilst the selected Heer and the Imperial Japanese Army units conduct war games against one another on military reserved planets.
Unlike the Empire of Japan, the Reich makes little use of permenant puppet states or protectorates, directly absorbing worlds or states directly into its national body over time with justification presented by the Constitution and national policies. Had the Imperium of Deutschland succeeded in maintaining control over the New Weimar Republic, it would have been reintroduced into the Reich completely.

The Wehrmacht of the Greater German Reich includes the Heer, Kriegsmarine, and the Luftwaffe. The Waffen-SS, is also a powerful arm of the Wehrmacht, maintaining powerful ground forces, elite air forces and its own naval units.
While numerically smaller than other human national militaries, the average German soldier is trained far longer and is expected to accomplish far more, with the discipline of ancient Prussia and the fanaticism of National Socialism. All military forces, apart from the independent Waffen-SS, are commanded by the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht, which is in turn commanded by the Führer.

Policing functions are provided by the Schutzsfaffel, which has absorbed almost all federal law enforcement and intelligence duties into itself. Whilst local Volksturmm militia on planets handle local protection, the Schutzsfaffel is the most powerful federal agency, kept in check from a coup by fanatical loyalty to the Fuhrer. In addition, the Schutzstaffel controls a significant portion of the Reich's colonization programmes, with its own Lebensraum Colonization and Settlement Office.

Science
Greater German Reich's scientific research is arguably the most efficient of the 3 major factions, and the most unethical, too. The German scientists are allowed to use any means neccessary, including tests and experiments on humans, to gain technologial superiority. This is one of the major reasons why the Greater German Reich is currently the most technologially advanced human faction in the galaxy. Currently the Research might of the GGR is concentrating on superior weaponry and equipment, meanwhile for example, the Democratic Federation is focusing on advancing the armour of it's navy ships, and perfecting the EMP weaponry.
The Technological Research is majorly concentrated on the Military Research, but from time to time several inventions that are suitable for civilians, are released for public use to ensure the happiness and loyalty of the people.
Society
Education
Education in the Reich starts at an early age, and continues until age nineteen. Throughout their education, German children are taught to praise and respect the Fuher and all Fuhers before him. Children are also taught the importance of racial superiority. Those who want to teach in the schools and acadamies must go through a rigorous screening process by the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei. A defining aspect of the German education system is it's strictness, with corporal punishment being the main disciplinary style. All German children must wear school uniforms approved by the state, and keep in top physical shape throughout their school careers. After a German child goes through the education system, he/she may choose to enter the armed forces, or go one to pursue a different career.
Social Welfare
In the Greater German Reich, social welfare is given a large priority. The system focuses on providing employment for German citizens and insuring a minimal living standard for German citizens. Heavily focused on was the idea of a national German community. To aid the fostering of a feeling of community, the German people's labour and entertainment experiences—from festivals, to vacation trips and traveling cinemas—were all made a part of the "Strength through Joy" (Kraft durch Freude) program. Also crucial to the building of loyalty and comradeship was the implementation of the National Labour Service and the Hitler Youth Organization, with compulsory membership. Although welfare is free for all, it is typical for Aryan citizens to have a higher standing in the Reich, due to it's racial superiority programs.
Health
German health care is arguably the most efficient in the Orion sector. German citizens are given free healthcare, although Aryans get more priority than "lesser" races. The Reich's health programs are also well known for it's massive anti-smoking campaigns. German products are given regular health screenings in order to remove harmful chemicals, and women are encouraged to undergo regular screenings for breast cancer.
Women's Rights
Women in the German Reich once had minimal standareds, being encouraged to be housewives, mothers, and nothing else. With a new war looming on the horizon, however, German women are steadily being given more and more freedoms, with women now working in the factories or serving in the armed forces. Although some women still hold on the the old "mothers before workers" mentality, many more are turning to once men dominated jobs, such as ship command and politics.
Environmentalism
German environmentalism can best be described as somewhat effective.The concept of the Dauerwald (best translated as the "perpetual forest") which included concepts such as forest management and protection was promoted and efforts were also made to curb air pollution. In practice, the enacted laws and policies met resistance from various ministries that sought to undermine them, and from the priority that the war-effort took to environmental protection.

Media
The majority of German films combine entertainment with political and patriotic propaganda. The import of foreign films was legally restricted (expecially Soviet films) after 2126 and the German industry, which was effectively nationalised in 2127, had to make up for the missing foreign films. German media is also known for it's patriotic commercials, many of which urge common citizens to join their brothers and sisters in the armed forces.
Religion
Although Christianity has small amounts of followers in the Greater German Reich, most Germans practice Aryanism. See religion for more details.
Sports
Established in 2104, the Nationalsozialistischer Reichsbund für Leibesübungen (NSRL), (sometimes also known under the acronym NSRBL) is the umbrella organization for sports in the Reich. The aims of the promotion of sports in the Third Reich included hardening the spirit of every German as well as making German citizens feel that they were part of a wider national purpose. One major part of the NSRL's ideas is the superiority of Aryan sports skills. Germany commony uses all Aryan sports teams in order to try to prove this concept. Out of all sports in the Reich, football remains the most popular, with many Germans partaking in community-organized events.
