Overview
The Second Scinfaxi War was a period of intense conflict between the nations of Earth, and the Scinfaxi between 2122 and 2153, it was the final conflict for control of Earth, and resulted in the tactical withdraw of all remaining human personal on the planet to the newly established colonies. While it involved large scale battles and sieges not seen since the First Scinfaxi War, these were fought simply as holding actions to prevent the Scinfaxi from reaching areas where the local population was still being evacuated, no attempt at an offensive into Scinfaxi territory was undertaken by any of the human nations.

Course
The Border Skirmishes
Early in February 2122 The Scinfaxi border began fluctuating with slight Scinfaxi border defenders slightly moving north of the former mexican border, mostly new base defenses were being built farther and farther north, that the United States took notice of. The US military forces did not allow any alien presence past the designated lines of division and immediately fires upon any scinfaxi presence on United States soil. These slight skirmishes that ended usually as soon as the First human fired his weapon, these slight skirmishes went on for two weeks, but as the month turned to March the Alienes began to grow more bold. March brought entire Scinfaxi armored divisions to the front lines of the border, seeing the opposition the US did the same to match as well as mobilizing all military forces within the area. On March 10th 2122, during the dead of night the Scinfaxi thrust forward across the line, turning the skirmishes into full on war.
Siege of Fort Worth
Fall of Gibraltar
The first Scinfaxi push into mainland Europe was made in 2127 at the GGR held port of Gibraltar. The GGR's border here had been reinforced time and time again after seeing the devastation happening across the ocean in the American mid-west. Scinfaxi tripods began to build up in Tangeirs according to GGR long range Reconnaissance which brought the Germans to reinforce the port with Tanks, troops and Artillery ready for any Scinfaxi threat. Expecting a frontal assault directly across the Straits of Gibraltar, the Scinfaxi went right into the German's expected firing zone, devastating the first Scinfaxi wave of attack. This continued for two whole days, with the Luftwaffe and German Howiters destroying Tripods before they even reached Iberian beaches. This did not last as the Scinfaxi's numbers swelled, massive numbers of tripods crossed the straights at once, with anti-air support effectively downing the Luftwaffes attempts to quell the invasion. Seeing the Scinfaxi already land on the beach the GGR's troops pulled back from the beachside defenses and put up the defensive ring around Gibraltar, starting its long siege. For six months, Geerman panzer's and infantry divisions fought on all side of the city. a force of 37,500 men was the initial defense but that umber soon dwindled over the course of six months. During that time the Scinfaxi had already moved past the city into mainland Spain but a large forced stayed stationed around the Port City. Six months went by as the germans continued to fire their howiters and bomb Scinfaxi positions in all directions of the city. The defense was beautifully executed with expert German defenses put up both utilizing the experience and integrity that German soldiers have been known for since the days of Prussia. Although after six months of a perfectly executed defense supplies grew low. Howiters stopped firing and The Luftwaffe was grounded, the defense of Gibraltar came to a sputtering stop. No reinforcements ever came due to the full scale invasion forces else where, so the garrison, now dwindled to 5,000 men did one final stand. The commanding officer of Gibraltar believed that a Scinfaxi atomic shipment was being delivered across the straights. He made a final assault on the sea borne shipment, abandoning the city for a night raid on a Scinfaxi raid upon the shipment. It is noted that the German attack did indeed take the convoy, but the city fell as a result. The demise of the German troops or the cargo of the convoy was never discovered.
Fall of Rome
Taking in a Two-pronged attack from both the Land Forced brought in from Spain and France, as well as the island hopping Scinfaxi Forces who has just taken Malta and Sicily, Rome was in a poor defensive position. In 2129 Scinfaxi forces were in a race to defeat Rome, intelligence has discovered that this would be a morale destroying tactic against the human nations, to destroy the prized city of Rome. GGR forces saw that Rome was near impossible to defend, Equipment was once again being pulled back to defend the Fatherland and the defense of the Italian lands being a minor objective. Since the Scinfaxi made a foothold in the Italian peninsula after the taking of Sicily, Italy was deemed lost to the GGR. A token defense force was left to defend the interest of Rome against the Scinfaxi, although it was badly outnumbered and out-equipped with no support coming. Roman defenses consisted of German troops holding the high ground surrounding the City and bombarding Tripods with whatever remaining Shells could be found. The defense proved to be effective taking heavy losses, but giving many more casualties. Such defenses were doomed to failure due to continued assaults but human infighting only speed up the process. German Tanks and artillery pieces were found to be destroyed by human terrorists laying bombs on these key targets. Rome was home to a large population of cultists belonging to Faxology. These cultists were rallied to bring down the human defenses against the Aliens. These terrorist attacks were easily stopped after GGR troops were alerted to their presence. This also divided the GGR from only focusing on Alien threats bringing down the effectiveness of the defense. The last bullet fired against Scinfaxi troops in March 2130 with Rome falling into Scinfaxi hands, and consequently burning under the occupation.
Siege of Stalingrad
The Siege of Stalingrad was one of the fiercest, bloodiest, and most devastating city siege the mankind has ever seen. And up to this day, remains as the most fiercest city warfare that has yet to be surpassed by any conflict of it's kind.
When the Scinfaxi began their invasion of the Soviet Union, the Soviet military immediately mobilized for the war. Hearing about the news from the other nations, the Soviet government knew that they could not push the alien hoard back across the border. Instead, they would have to commence a mass evacuation of the nation. Knowing that this would be an incredible feat to accomplish, the Politburo and Premier agreed that they would have to follow the same doctrine that their forefathers followed during the Great Patriotic War: "Not one step back".
Using a clever propaganda system, thousands of men and women joined the ranks of the Red Army, wanting to protect their loved ones and give them the time to evacuate farther north and eventually into space. Despite the valiant spirits of the Red Army, the Scinfaxi were advancing farther than the Politburo and Premier were wanting. They then started to send in KGB regiments in to try and give a boost in moral along the front, but this did little to help.
When the Scinfaxi reached the Volga River, the KGB saw an opportunity to give the the soldiers a boost in fighting spirit. The City of Stalingrad was already famous for the defeat of the fascists in the Great Patriotic War, and it would prove itself again to be a decisive battle in the defense of the Motherland.
The Soviet military began to fortify the city, making every building and house a fortress and booby trap. Over a million men were placed in Stalingrad, along with artillery, tanks, and aircraft. Their orders were to be a thorn in the Scinfaxi advance, and to tie up as much Scinfaxi material in taking the city. The KGB had several regiments in Stalingrad as well, to help the Red Army and to provide propaganda.
At first, the Scinfaxi attempted to bypass the city, to advance further into Soviet territory and to prevent from getting bogged down in urban combat. However, the Soviet general in charge of the defense of the city counter-attacked, causing the Scinfaxi to have to go through the city and fight house to house, just how the Germans did in the Great Patriotic War.
Eventually, the Scinfaxi bypassed the city of Stalingrad, but had to leave a substantial force behind to take care of the Soviet forces in the city, out of fear that they could cause chaos behind the lines. Slowly, alien tripods began taking the city block by block, but also suffering heavy casualties as a result of it. Soviet tanks, artillery, and infantry played havoc with the alien forces, and for several months, the Scinfaxi were suffering heavily.
However, cut-off from the rest of the country, and deep behind enemy lines, the defenders began to run low on supplies and ammunition. The situation became so bad that the infantry were having to go into battle with little to no ammunition. Eventually, the entire city had fallen except for the air/spaceport. The Soviet government offered the commanding general a transport out of the city, but he refused. He stated that his ancestor had fought and dies in Stalingrad and that he wanted to stay behind with his men whom he had fought alongside with.
When the last of the KGB in the city heard that the general was staying behind, they all agreed to initiate the final act of the Soviet Union's defiance in Stalingrad. The Scinfaxi began their final assault on the spaceport, killing most of the defenders, save for a few KGB operatives who were housing a nuclear warhead that would destroy the entire city and the surrounding Scinfaxi forces. When the Scinfaxi approached the last defended building, the KGB operatives waited until the aliens were right on top of them before detonating, taking out the city and the Scinfaxi force surrounding the city.
The Berlin Pocket
Fall of London
France was completely over run by 2148, German forces had fought valiantly to defend their European holdings but had fallen back in the face of the superior numbers and technology held by the Scinfaxi invasion. With the mainland lost the Anglo-Canadian Kingdom was once again at the mercy of the Alien invaders. At any moment the Scinfaxi threat could make their way across the Channel and into the core of Britain. The Anglo-Canadian kingdom set up the most advanced defenses known to the Human nations to defend the south east coast from any Tripod threat. The Royal Navy was also on patrol, ready to wipe out anything that came near the French Beach`s facing the Kingdom. In May 2149 the Anglo-Canaiands received word that their west flank had been invaded. Wales had already been over run by Tripods swarming Across the Irish sea. The Scinfaxi invaded the empty island of Ireland (empty since the exodus to Canada) with no human resistance whatsoever and continued east toward Britain. The British Artillery and Defenses would take weeks to redirct toward to the opposite facing enemy. Scotland, Liverpool and Cornwall were all taken with ease, as the Commonwealth army had literally been facing the wrong way and fell quickly to the lighting speed of the Tripods advancing into the island. By the time the Scinfaxi reached The Urban London area, it was early 2149. The English populace and brave commonwealth soldiers had sacrificed many lives to simply slow the alien advance enough to give the defensemen enough time to defend the backward flank. London had become a city of traps, pits filled with explosives, houses linked with bombs, Dams ready to wipe out anyone beneath it, London was fortified. For the next several months, a bitter house to house warfare had been fought. The English Artillery made sure that the Scinfaxi made it into their city in shambles. For miles Tripods had to face fields of mines, holes and burning ditches as well shells falling from above. The Army was forced to pull back slowly to the open arms of any transport off the island. It took a month of excruciating fighting but the city of London was lost in June 2149. As the last remnant of the British army fled the Island, American bombers stationed on Iceland contaminated the island. From Oakley to Cornwall, Poisonous gas of any kind had been dropped on the island. As seen on a retreating transport the London Bridge Burned in a cloud of white phosphorus to ward off an invasion force advancing from Southwark before tumbling down due to a direct hit by a Royal Navy shell.
Battle of Chicago
In March of 2153, the Scinfaxi had driven the United States and the Andrean Republic up into the northern states. As the line began to fall apart, several civilian spaceports were occupied by the military and plans were drawn for widespread evacuations. As Scinfaxi pushed north through Illinois, the state national guard pulled back the the suburbs of Chicago and established a strong foothold around the city proper.
Near the end of the month, the situation started to deteriorate rapidly. Desperate to get the remaining civilians out of the city, soldiers were sent to sweep the streets for the last reluctant survivors to the safe zone at O'Hare Interstellar Air and Spaceport. During the final phase of the evictions, a Scinfaxi Walker, supported by thousands of infantry punched through the outer lines, overtaking and surrounding the forces still trapped downtown.
The US navy in orbit started using their bombers to try and buy time for air transports to airlift the survivors to the spaceport, but by the time they reached them only a handful remained.
In the chaos and confusion caused in the final hour, the transports at the spaceport took off early, with some of them not even filled to half their capacity. Once the transports reached the safety of low orbit. The US navy proceeded to bombard their remaining territories in the midwest, denying the land to the Scinfaxi, but killing hundreds of thousands of stranded civilians in the process.
The massive loss of civilian life was a low point in morale for the Democratic Federation, and it became clear to many what the fate of the planet was going to be.
Last Stand at Berlin
By August of 2153, the pocket around Berlin had begun to tighten, and flights of Scinfaxi aircraft had begun appearing over the city, the cities automated defenses systems began to malfunction, and soon Scinfaxi weapons were striking into the heart of Berlin. 16 hours after the last civilian transport left the Berlin Spaceport the order was given for all remaining German troops and airmen to evacuate. Control of the regions defenses were transferred entirely to the automated defense systems which all either malfunctioned or ran out of ammo within 90 minutes of the order.
With Scinfaxi forces now only 50 miles outside of Berlin, 4 SS military transport spacecraft deployed the entirety of the 1st SS Division to the city center. German propaganda, broadcast to every human occupied world in the Orion Region, proclaimed that "the future strength of the Greater German Reich would be born in this moment of human sacrifice", that "30,000 German soldiers shall give their lives to make sure that the spirit of human resistance will forever be carved into the soil of Berlin." "This will be the spirit of the defense, which will be executed with fanaticism and creativity, with every method of warfare, on, above, and below the earth".
A cache of nuclear weapons, linked via the German Command to the heart rate monitors of the divisions body armor, were programmed to detonate directly after the last soldiers vitals were extinguished, approximately 4 hours after the battle began, the cache was detonated.
The Scorching of Earth
As the last human transports left the Earth late in august the same year, across the Earth, cities lay barren. For the past 10 years behind the battle lines the human nations had been rapidly moving all populace non-essential to the war effort into transports to take them to the colonies. This had been a process that had been taking several years to initiate, as in the 2130's the human nations realized that this war would ultimately end the human presence on Earth. All human powers agreed that when no human heart's beat on their Earth, no alien's could either.
Finalized on 2145 The plan to link all human lands within a blast radius of High-yield Nuclear Weapons was made and put into action. After several years of progress (during the worst warfare the Earth had seen in centuries) the Northern hemishere was ready to commit to the final decision of a Scorched Earth policy. The first of these weapons were used in August 2153 in Berlin what effectively devastated both massive Scinfaxi armored column, but also the Heart land of the GGR into nothing more than scorched radioactive wasteland. Taking a cue from the action in Berlin, the human fleets orbiting Earth unleashed volleys of High-Yield Nuclear Weapons into the planet.
The sheer amount of these bombs left not even a single place on Earth that wasn't hit and burned by the blastwaves. The entire Northern hemisphere of the planet was almost literally, turned into scorched dust, several Nuclear Bombs were launched into Scinfaxi territory too, but no planet scale atomic strikes in the area were made again after that. Reports say that the immense amount of radiation put off by the orbital bombardment and the inevitable atomic winter would wipe out all life on the planet within year and a half.
Man kind left their cradle for the stars, as their home that served them for hundred of thousands of years, burned brightly behind them. The Scorching of Earth was mankind's last insult to the Scinfaxi, leaving them with nothing to show for their century of occupation of the planet.
Hopefully, teaching the Scinfaxi that mankind will never, ever give up even small pit of land without making them pay the ultimate price for it.
